The Power List Basics 101 - Part 2

Lesson 2 of a 7-Lesson eCourse

In today's lesson, you'll learn about the rules for building
a list, the dos and don'ts for emailing a list.

Firstly, I will touch on the dos and don'ts.

The Basic Dos and Don'ts for emailing to a list is to avoid being classified as SPAM.

This is a big NO-NO for any internet marketer as it will
cause your business to go bust before you even realized what
happened.

- Always require double opt-in for your subscribers
- Make your opting-out an easy process like for example a
  one-click unsubscribe link
- You must also be willing to manually unsubscribe members
- You need to put your physical address in every mailing
- Always include language in each mailing reminding
  subscribers of the opt-in nature of the list
- Always remind them of their subscribed name plus email
  address that is in your database to confirm their
  subscription
- It is a good idea to request AOL users to sign up your
  list with an alternate address since almost as high as 60%
  delivery failure rate had been reported before

Secondly, there are 5 rules to remember when building your
lists. I always follow these rules when I build my lists.

 1) Build only a 100% opt-in list

Never and I mean Never ever put anyone in your list if they
did not request it. That's called SPAM and it's one
heck of a killer for any marketer. SPAM will get you into
trouble faster than you realized that you can't send any
email.

There are always better and much easier ways to build your
list.

 2) Quality matters more than quantity

Do not be overly concerned in trying to achieve lists of
thousands or tens of thousands overnight in the beginning.
Rather, you would want to achieve a list of people who are
very interested in what you're offering. You would rather
them to be excited by your offers than half-hearted interest
from folks who are not really your targeted market.

Your list members want quality information, so give it to
them. Don't give them just theories. Give them something
useful which they can use outright to their advantage.

If you constantly present good quality information, they
will know that you know your area of expertise very well, thus
trusting your future recommendations. They may even purchase
some of your offers.

Which list do you think would make you more mo'ney if you wanted
to sell vintage toy figurines?

 a. A 250,000 member football list

 b. A 15,000 member toys list

 c. A 300 member vintage toys figurine list

If you think a 250,000 member football list will get more
sa!es simply because of their huge numbers then it's the
wrong answer.

If you think a 15,000 member toys list will buy more
products since they love toys, then you are wrong again.

A 300 member that wants vintage toy figurines will
definitely outsell both of these other lists simply because
they want to know when you come out with a vintage toy
figurine product so they can buy it.

You will make much more mo'ney from small tightly targeted
lists than you will from any other list no matter how large
that list happens to be.

 3) Create MULTIPLE tightly targeted lists

****Pay attention here****.

Here's where all guru secrets lie.

Multiple tightly targeted lists will yield better results
than a mass newsletter type. Although some of these people
will be receiving your newsletter because they requested it.

 4) Slow and steady wins the race.

Always take your time to carefully take into account of the
details. I always wanted a better quality job even if it
takes a little bit more time rather than a job which was
haphzardly put together and yield little results.

This will ensure that your outcome will definitely be better
and you'll achieve a much greater success with a longer effect.

 5) Think viral in everything you do

Viral marketing is what makes your name; website and product
spread like wildfire and you will definitely want it. As
this will skyrocket the traffic flow to your website and you
will be known as the expert in your area of expertise in a
very short time.

Again, everything you do online must in some way build your
lists.

So always think viral!
